MAJOR PURCHASING FUNCTIONS The major functions of Purchasing are Production Purchasing, Non-Production Purchasing, and Supplier Technical Assistance. Production Purchasing Production Purchasing purchases parts and materials needed to manufacture vehicles. Suppliers are an integral part of our business, and our success is interdependent with theirs. We rely on more than 2,000 production suppliers to provide many of these parts. Examples include brake linings, headlights, powertrain parts, and raw materials such as steel, plastic, and coatings.
